Now 2016 is coming to an end, it’s time to make some resolutions for the new year. What do you want to achieve in 2017? Are those goals achievable? Setting goals is something we’ve been doing for ages. It helps to get focus. But how much of those goals do you realize? Probably less than you would want to. That’s why you have to make your goals SMART and think about how you formulate your goals and how important your goals are.
1) Formulate SMART goals
Do you need to set goals as an entrepreneur? It’s not required and it’s entirely up to you. But if you want to grow your business, you have to place that dot at the horizon. If you want to set some personal goals, than you can make your goals SMART: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Timely. For example: “ At the end of the day I wrote a blog with at least 300 words that tells exactly how you can make smarter goals. You can see that I write in the past tense:.” … Wrote a blog … “ I force myself so to have something done for a certain time. if I had written:”. … I want to write a blog … before the end of the day … “ it is less action-oriented. Something that I would do. Do you feel the difference?
2) Make it SMARTER
It’s not clear who has invented the term SMART. But it’s a bit incomplete. I prefer to use the term SMARTER. where the ‘E’ stands for Emotion and ‘R’ for Result. Emotion is about how much you want to achieve your goal. How strongly do you associate yourself with it, or can you connect yourself emotionally with it? That also depends on how important you think the Result will be.
If it’s important for you, then you will experience a different emotion than when you have it for any other reason. When you search actively at what your goals are giving you and realize where your goals contribute to, you can focus even more and even get more positive results.
3) Use your intuition
There are Entrepreneurs who would prefer to follow their intuition. So, does that match with setting SMART goals? When you use your intuition, you use that in an earlier stadium. You are using your intuition much earlier to decide where you wanna go then to decide what you want to accomplish. If your intuition says you need to go a certain direction, then it often creates enthusiasm and passion too. This brings so much energy that it will help you setting even higher goals. And thus the goal becomes very important to you. A SMARTER goal so to speak.
So start 2017 with SMARTER goals.
No goals without a target. Good luck! 🙂
